Haast to Hokatika, NZ March 26, 2025
We scooted out the next morning.
We stopped for a little break.
The views of the Tasman Sea were magnificent!
Our next stop was at a Salmon Hatchery. We had a delightful breakfast here.
YUM!
Salmon were swimming around in them there pools.
I think the ferns in New Zealand are some of the healthiest and prettiest in the world.
The clouds look low enough to touch...if I only had a ladder.
We stopped at the West Coast Wildlife Center at Franz Josef. I had always wanted to see a real live kiwi. They are a nocturnal bird so you really have to know what your doing to spot one.
We took the easy way by stopping at this wildlife center to see them captured in a dark room. SO COOL! They are bigger than I thought....about the size of a goose.
Me and an over sized kiwi bird.
This bird chased after me when we visited Stuart Island on an earlier visit to NZ. A Pokeko can be very territorial.
Bighorn sheep were on display also in the wildlife center.
The next overnight stop that we made was at Annabelle Motel in Hokitika.
Larry and I decided we needed a break from riding but,
Jay and Kim mounted up heading toward the Pancake Rocks. Larry and I had seen these unusual rock formations previously so we bowed out.
It ended up being good decision for us. We walked into town and then hit the sack early.
