Christchurch to Akaroa to Christchurch

Christchurch to Akaroa to Christchurch

March 28, 2025

First stop......GAS.

A straight away and.....

a few curves....

led us to the top of the mountain...

to the Kiwi Cafe and...

a gorgeous view of Christchurch.

After a little hike up the side of the mountain, we found this lovely view.

These are the most colorful toadstools I have ever seen.

They seem somewhat magical

Great friends+ great scenery+ fine weather     =  an A PLUS DAY!

Kim and I enjoyed this gorgeous last day together.

Larry found a comfortable rock and just kicked back to take in the this fantastic scenery....our last day of touring the South Island of New Zealand.

We were soon back on the road to enjoy a few more twisty, turns.

Here we go

We stopped on top of the mountain to enjoy the phenomenal view.

Magnificent!

Riding down the mountainside....

toward Akaroa....

we spotted beef cattle and ..

lots of wind blocking hedges and....

unusual rock formations before....

arriving in the sweet town of Akaroa.

After parking on the street,
we found this ....

unusual statue and..... a

respectful memorial to war veterans.

What a wonderful view of the inlet!

          Akaroa is doggone beautiful!
We enjoyed the historic buildings.

Larry had no problem finding the playground and his favorite......

the swings.

We all mounted up and headed back to Christchurch to return the motorcycles back to NZ Motorcycle Rentals.

The final ride was epic

                      Curves, clouds, waterview......
what more can we ask for?

                       Hokey Pokey Ice Cream,
                       a New Zealand tradition

That evening before we had dinner we played some tunes outside of the hotel....our grand finale of fun music.

The next day,  March 29,  all of us went to the Christchurch Airport. Kim and Jay were flying back to New York, USA for a nephew's wedding.....while
Larry and I were flying to Sydney, Australia to reboard the Westerdam that was heading back to the USA.

On the next part of our adventure
we would miss traveling with our Pennsylvania friends.
