Banff, Alberta, Canada April 30, 2025
The next morning after our train ride we walked around Banff.
Banff is known for its stunning natural beauty. The turquoise water and snow capped mountains draw millions of visitors each year.
We enjoyed this painting in one of the shops in town. It reminded us of what we saw on the train the day before.
Banff is a quaint ski town that caters to tourist who come to hike, ski and bike in the mountains that are the background of the town.
It is so picturesque it doesn't look real. The last time we were in Banff we visited the iconic old hotel on Lake Louise. The views are stunning.
Stone artistry
Canadians are respectful of the indigenous people who were first in the area. Nearby Banff National Park was Canada's first national park established in 1885. and the third national park in the world.
Folks can often spot elk, moose, bighorn sheep and bear here in their natural habitat.
The day was blustery, jacket weather... a big change from the Pacific Islands.
The way the mountains rise up all around Banff is astonishing.
Larry and I boarded a private bus around 1:00pm. It took us on a two hour drive East to Calgary.
Upon arriving in Calgary we ubered to the Comfort Inn.
The next day we met our good friend, Esther, from the Philippines for lunch. We actually met Esther in East Timor back in 2008. Esther is a talented musician and singer and she taught our foreign students music....in English.
Esther had married since we last saw her. She moved to Canada with her husband and daughter to finish her college degree. It was a very happy reunion.
We came to see Esther to congratulate her for completing her teaching degree.
We were so proud of her commitment to continue her studies in education.
The next day Larry and I took a flight out of Calgary International Airport to Tampa. We had so many good times on this spring trip. It would be extremely hard to pick out the best.
