Road House, Tortola, March 18, 2023
The waters were such a cool azul!
Very colorful painted walls graced the entryway into Tortola.
The pier area was wide and clean with benches for travelers to rest in the heat of the day.
This friendly lady, Rose, found Larry a cotton island shirts that he had been wanting.
Extra large homes dotted the hillsides...the further up the mountain, the cooler the temperature.
The Costa Pacific looks so grand here.
The bananas on the stalk are such an unusual sight for this shopper.
We walked down through the old town. Homes and businesses had renovated many of the old buildings.
Colors were vividly bright.
Roosters and hens were here and there.
Old stone buildings were refurbished.
Many of the refurbished buildings like the one above (1750) left a small part of original building exposed.
Many of the original buildings had seashells and coral cemented among the rocks.
We passed the original "Her Majesty's Prison" dating back to 1774 and used until 1997.
Larry and I walked behind the prison to find a graveyard.
What a gorgeous bloom!
We passed by the marina....so many boats and yachts.
As we sailed away, Larry and I decided we would rent a scooter to see the rest of the island when we came back to Tortola the following Monday. With the crystal clear waters, we could only imagine the scenery from the top of the mountains.
We enjoyed watching the pilot boat zip along beside us as we pulled out of the harbor.
What a enjoyable day!
