St John, Antigua, March 21, 2023
We were greeted in St John by a steel drum band....what lively tropical sounds.
The four of us made our way to the bus station and climbed on board for a half an hour drive through the countryside before arriving at Nelson's Dockyard.
As we approached our destination, the view was clear and sunny.

La Gomera in the Canary Islands was supposed to arrive in the English Harbor at 7:00 pm this evening ending their rowing adventure across the Atlantic Ocean in a similar rig as pictured above. If our ship was not pulling out at 6, I would have enjoyed seeing this happen.
One of the original buildings...After England acquired Antigua in 1632; this area became established as a naval base because of its safe natural harbor during the 18th century.
After viewing the dockyard, Larry and Jay took a hike down a rugged path.
They came across these remarkable views.
Several goats visited with the guys during their hike.
We had a fine picnic lunch. Afterwards, we went into the museum which was the former Naval Officer's House.

Queen Elizabeth planted this palm tree when she visited the area in 1966.
We all enjoyed our day in Antigua.
