Santorini, Greece

Santorini, Greece   Palm Sunday, March 29, 2026

How EXCITED I am! I have always wanted to visit Santorini because I have heard so many wonderful stories about this little Greek gem.
Looking off the boat we could see the walking path that led up the side of the mountain to the village.

We could also see the cable car (on the right) that went straight up the side of the mountain.

What a high cliff!

From the ship we spotted the tender boats taking passengers to the shore.

Larry and I hurried down to the tender boat and rode it into the Old Port of Fira.
The Old Port of Santorini is a captivating blend of history and beauty, offering a unique entry
point to an island of charm.

We immediately hopped into the cable car line to take a ride to the top of the cliff avoiding 588 steps to the town of Fira.

Riding the six person cable car was a luxurious way to reach the top.

Our plans today were to rent a prearranged scooter. As it began to down pour rain, Larry canceled the scooter and we jumped on a local bus to Oia.
Flexibility is a must when traveling.

Views across the northern part of Santorini
while riding the public bus

We enjoyed seeing the rugged Santorini countryside through the raindrop covered windows.
The mountains sloped down to the sea. Half circle shaped roofed homes dotted the hillsides along with homes that were in the process of being built.

Virgin Mary of the  Akathist Hymn Church
Miraculously the sun came out. We enjoyed walking  around this area through the big puddles of rain.

The iconic blue domes of Oia

How wonderful to see this iconic spot!

Pinch me! I can't believe I'm here!

After having such a wonderful time in Oia, we jumped back on the public bus back to Fira.

The Orthodox Metropolitan  Cathedral in Fira

A unique sign for a restaurant with the fish going  from the side of the building to the front.

              Walking through Fira was incredible...
up and down!

We came across such unusual doors while searching for more blue domes in Fira.

What a unique rail!😀

The different rocks used to pave the walkway was interesting.

Peeking through a window that had no back walls....only a lovely waterfront scene.

Yummy treat shops

Baklava
Larry wanted to take a buzuki home with us....8 strings and rounded back.

My man loves his music!

Catholic Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist

The Catholic Cathedral of John the Baptist

After following the signs to the Monastery of the Dominican Sisters, we found it was closed, so we never spotted the blue domes of Fira.

What cool architecture!

Break time! Unfortunately, it was time to find our way back to the ship.

With one final look at the beauty of the area...

we headed down the the hill....

passing exquisite homes .

WOW! WHAT INCREDIBLE HOMES!

The ancient walls of stone supporting the cliff behind it were very incredible too!

We wanted to walk down the path to the Old Port...
YES, taking ALL 588 steps.

How happy we were to have the mules pass us going up as we went down.

I love my man. I love my family. I love my life.
I love Santorini.
I love this shot with our ship in the background.

Returning on the tender and looking back at Santorini, we were happy to have walked down the zigzag path from Fira,

While riding the tender back, my man gave me the two thumbs up!

Santorini is a land of breathtaking landscapes and stunning views.

WHAT A FABULOUS DAY!
