Hermanus, South Africa

Hermanus, South Africa   Friday-Monday, April 24-27, 2015

Hermanus  is a gorgeous little beach town. Many retirees have second homes here. Many Cape Town residents come here for a weekend get away. It is a very relaxing atmosphere with a 14 mile white sandy beach and a lovely walking path along the cliffs. The pictures tell it all!

Danny and Murrae shared their lovely home with us.

A relaxing garden, we enjoyed each day!

My man, the grill master, barbecuing ostrich burgers.

Evening strolls required a jacket...still quite pleasant.

Each Saturday Hermanus has a wonderful Farmer's Market.... Lots of local crafts, art, bakery goods, and rides for the kiddies....fresh waffles for breakfast, wines, craft beers, oysters on the half shell and live music...Larry thinks these people really know how to enjoy life!
Kids were lined  up to take a ride.

Kathy would have enjoyed seeing this truck load of pomegranates.

We enjoyed the coastline path almost everyday!

Gorgeous scenery and fantastic weather!

Stunning coastline views!
Lots to do here...sailing, parasailing, boogie boarding with a wet suit this time of year, hiking, rock climbing, golfing, shopping, and soaking up the fabulous sun on the beach.

The beach is my favorite!

Several time the electricity went out....called down shedding...the governments way of cutting the power usage in all of South Africa...one to four hours most days...nice excuse for a candle light dinner!

Loved the hike up to the top of Klip Kop.

At the bottom of the mountain is Klip Kop Cave, archeological diggings found remains of 50,000-70,000 years ago.

We were thrilled to spot this owl sitting on top of the  compound wall on an evening walk.

What a relaxing place to stay!
