Utah

Hurricane, Utah         March 14-15, 2021

We stayed in the town of Hurricane where spring was busting loose.

Zion National Park, Utah

We headed out for Zion National Park the next morning under cloudy skies.

Soon the sun popped out!

What a rock wall!

Driving between the canyon walls was quite remarkable.

We passed through several  tunnels in the park...one was a mile long.

The remaining snow on the shadowed sides of the mountains made for some interesting scenery.

The 13 mile drive through Zion was breathtaking.

We enjoyed climbing over some of the rocks.

The next morning we woke up to a couple of inches of snow on the ground in Hurricane and ......

drove through a snow storm to Panguitch.

Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah   March 16-17, 2021

The infamous rock formations of Bryce Canyon are called "Hoodoos". They were spectacular today. Who would have guessed that a snow storm had occurred just the day before.

Magnificent!

We really enjoyed the deep blue sky, red rocks and the white snow in Bryce Canyon. How fortunate we were to experience a snowfall in this area.

Passing through two rock tunnels in the Red Canyon was exciting.

We walked along a path inside the park to Sunrise Point and  to Sunset Point.

                                                 The Sunshine  was so wonderful!

Bryce Canyon views were unique.

Staircase-Escalante Monument, Utah

One new camping area called "Yonder" outside of Escalante provided Airstreams to rent.

The road was full of gorgeous views and .....

so many different rock formations.

We can only imagine who lived in these caves long ago.

Kanab, Utah   March 18, 2021

We enjoyed walking through the town of Kanab that is surrounded by lots of tall red sandstone cliffs.

Kanab has their own "Little Hollywood"  Walk of Fame for the actors who starred in western cowboy  television shows and movies. We saw plaques for Roy Rodgers, Dale Evans, Clint Eastwood, Ronald  Reagan, Gregory Peck, Raquel Welch and so many more.

Walking in downtown Kanab

During our walkabout in Kanab we came upon the Heritage House, 1894..the first modern home in Kane County.

Unfortunately, the Heritage House was closed due to Covid.

We dropped into the Kanab Visitor Center to get some maps to the local canyon hikes.

Outside the Visitor Center a sculptured buffalo stood with film wrapped around it reminiscing the films of the old western movies made in Kanab.

The metal sculptors in this region do a phenomenal job.

Outside of Kanab we had some fabulous scenery following Route 89 into Page, Arizona.

Snow could be spotted on the hillsides.

Much of the scenery reminded us of Monument Valley....so different from our Virginia mountains.

Good-bye Utah!
