Guilin, China
Spring is in the air!
After breakfast we met our
driver to take us to the Xi’an Airport at 8:30 am. What a modern facility!
After receiving our tickets we headed for China Security. What a check!!!
Probably the most extensive check of carry-on baggage we have ever gone
through. We were pulled back for Larry’s tiny shaving cream bottle while each
person in our group was questioned about something in their luggage.
The plane flight was
fine….leaving and landing on time at 2:30 pm with the regular airplane food of
rice and chicken lunch with a bottle of water served. Larry and I enjoyed a
hoopla movie during the flight, “The Hero”. The airplane entertainment was in
Chinese.
We had the fastest luggage
return service ever.
The toll booth entering into the Guilin area.
We met our driver who drove us 2 and ½ hours to Guilin…our destination for the next three days.
We arrived a little after 5:00pm and Howard led us through the city market.
Our favorite, chicken on a stick!

We enjoyed some music and refreshment before dinner.
The local ice cream cone...very unique!
At 7:30pm we all met to
continue on for another 30 minute ride to the Guilin National Park. Vehicles
are not allowed to enter the park until after 5:30pm, government regulations.
Yes, mosquito netting over the bed, but no mosquitos this time of year.....it's too cool.
Everyone grabbed their
luggage and headed to their room…ready for a good snooze...and dreams about those gorgeous pinnacle mountains.
