Grand Canyon West Skywalk March 20, 2022
The drive into the Skywalk was rolling hills with many Joshua Trees and other Cacti.
Grand Canyon West is known as Skywalk. The Haulapai Tribe own this portion of the canyon. This particular area is called Eagle Point. Can you spot the Eagle in the natural rock formation...just over Kay's left shoulder. It is an unusual natural phenomena.
After walking over the Skywalk, Larry and I enjoyed hiking through the displays of
Native American homes.
Unfortunately we were not allowed to take our phones or cameras out on the 10 foot wide cantilever bridge in Mohave County. The horseshoe shaped glass bridge which opened in 2007
extends 70 feet out over
the rim of the Grand Canyon giving you a clear view of 4,000 feet to the Canyon floor.
Scary...not really! Especially after riding the mules to the Phantom Ranch.
The skywalk boasts that it is strong enough to hold seventy fully loaded 747 passenger jets.
Hey, it doesn't allow but about 20-25 people out there on it at one time.
