Dubai, United Arab Emeritus            Monday, March 2, 2020

Today we started the third leg of our adventure...Larry and I disembarked the Norwegian Spirit around 10:00 AM and took a taxi to the  Flora Airport Hotel waiting on our flight out to Mauritius.

We  could not believe how smoggy the air was over the city of Dubai. It was nothing like this when we visited in 2015.

.

Presently the World’s tallest building, Burj Khalifa is to the right. We went up it in  2015. A new world’s tallest building, Jiddah Tower, in Saudi Arabia is scheduled to open this year.

So long to the Norwegian Spirit.

Larry enjoyed talking with this local outside of the mall. What a friendly dude!

After visiting one of the many wonderful Dubai Mall’s, we spent the evening catching up with emails, internet connections tend to be difficult to obtain when traveling in the Middle East.

Tuesday morning we were out the door at 7:00AM  for our 10:15AM seven hour flight over the Indian Ocean to Mahebourg, Mauritius.

I was happy to see multiple collection containers in the airport to donate foreign money to help needy children. This is a great idea. How many times have we carried  foreign coins   back to the states because the banks and money exchange businesses do not  exchange coins?  I brought a bag of coins that Larry and I had been gathering from all over the world in hopes of finding a place to donate them. Yeah!

We boarded a massive double decker plane....completely full ....going to Mauritius.
Our Emirates  baggage check in steward told us that Europeans flock there to escape winter.

We believe that the UAE truly believe this statement. It is incredible how they have taken a massive sand dune and turned it into a futuristic oasis.
