San Francisco, California

San Francisco, California                                    February 1-5, 2017

Our local uber driver, David, took Larry and me to the Tampa Airport at 5:30am for an 8:00 flight to Dallas and then a second flight on to San Francisco. After a fantastic flight....no dips or flips in the air....we arrived around 12:30 pm. San Francisco time....3:30 pm Tampa time.

We gathered our two pieces of luggage and headed for the BART, San Francisco's metro. After a half an hour ride, we got off at the Powell Street Station and flagged a cab to our AIRbnb on Pine Street....six blocks up hill. The hills in San Francisco are seriously steep and rolling two 35 pound bags behind us would not be any fun.
Spring was in the air....such awesome blooms.

After lunch, dinner and the three hour time change, we were ready for some snoozing time... pretty early in California time. What a day!
Union  Station....Great restaurants and high end shopping....Tiffany's, Neiman Marcus, Macey's, Saks Fifth Avenue....What's a girl to do?

The next morning was absolutely drop dead gorgeous. After breakfast we headed for Union Square to catch the local Hop on Hop Off Bus. Larry and I had been to San Francisco several times before, but had never taken the local tour bus, so we said why not? We had a fabulous driver and tour guy in one, David. Being an amateur comedian, he kept us laughing the whole day.

We saw loads of the old cable cars.

Unique modes of transportation to the tune of seven bucks one way.

Entrance to Chinatown...largest Chinatown in the USA.

David, our driver, surprised us with a ride right down the middle of Chinatown. Since he grew up here, he was the only tour bus that could drive right down the middle of it. COOL!

Terricotta Soldier and the Pinnacle Landmark...WAY COOL!

What a sight! The Golden Gate Bridge...made to swing seven feet during an earthquake. WHeeee!

Gateway to Alcatraz....train cars used to roll up here to unload prisoners right onto the ship...the locals didn't want any of the hooligans setting foot in their city.

                                                                         Alcatraz
                                                               Golden Gate Park

Great Architecture....we were told that once the building burns down, it will  not be rebuilt. A one bedroom  500 square foot flat  in the Nob Hill area rents for around $3500 a month.
                                                       The old Victorians were amazing.
This one recently sold for over 8 million green backs.
                                                                 Japantown

The floating town hall....floats for earthquake resistance.

San Francisco embraces  homeless, disabled, homosexual, and has more dogs than children.

We spent an afternoon walking the financial  district  and Chinatown.
Tony Bennett's Heart painting from his famous "I Left My Heart in San Francisco".

We enjoyed a morning at Fisherman's Wharf.

We enjoyed watching the sea lions swim and waddle up on the docks.

Oakland Bridge
A night tour bus took us around the city to see all the bright lights.
The famous Clock Tower on the Embarcadero
The most pleasant smell in San Francisco goes to the Angel Trumpet....what a  heavenly scent.

We boarded the Queen Elizabeth around 11:00am  leaving with lots of memories of  San Francisco.... taking our heart with us to our next destination, Honolulu, Hawaii.
