Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii

What a gorgeous day! The weather was perfect. The ship
pulled into dock around 7:00 am. Oahu is the third largest of the seven
inhabited islands. Would you believe that there are 162 Hawaiian Islands that
are uninhabited? Hard to believe someone hasn’t scooped them up for private
use.
Larry and I enjoyed a Waikiki Trolley ride from the Aloha Tower
Port to Diamond Head State Park. We had been to the park in 2008, but had not
hiked to the summit.
Passing by the gorgeous Waikiki Beaches
The trolley took us right through downtown Waikiki past
the Diamond Head Light House.

We hiked up the winding pathway on the inside of the crater,
.8 mile one way. The trail follows an uneven, steep terrain involving several
sets of steep stairways and a 225 foot long tunnel.
Bunkers along the rim were
built in 1915. The top offers spectacular sweeping views of Oahu and Waikiki.
We were lucky to spot a whale out in the distant sea.
What a view!
A ride back into town took us by the filming of a live Hawaii
Five-O Set, the Honolulu Zoo, Waikiki Aquarium, and the Trump International
Hotel. We hopped onto the local bus service from the Ala Moana Mall back to the
port.
Here we caught a Hawaiian Show with authentic hula dancers and musicians.
What a great ending for a perfect day! The sail away was exquisite with live
music and fine weather. It was so nice
out, Larry and I opted to eat dinner outside on the back of the ship.
So long to the Hawaiian Blue Skies
