Fort Lauderdale to Ormond Beach, Florida

 Ormond Beach, Florida     Feb 25-March 5, 2026

What a spectacular day...even though we are leaving the Island Princess.

Larry and I took  a ship organized bus from the port to the airport to pick up a rental car.

What a gorgeous painting in Fort Lauderdale.

We drove from Fort Lauderdale to Ormond Beach about four hours away.

We were taking care of our friend's two year old golden retriever, Starry. Kathy was heading north to visit her granddaughter for her birthday.

What a treat! I loved taking care of her.

She is a sweetheart.

Larry was a excited about being in the area for the Daytona Bike Week.

Nothing could keep Larry from the race track.

So many bikes!

There were women racers.

Larry enjoyed  an evening at the Super Motocross at Daytona International Speedway.

Biker daredevils raced around a mile dirt track that had jumps and obstacles. It was very exciting seeing them fly through the air.

Sunday we went down to Main Street to see the 3:00 Parade.

You can just imagine the different sounds of motorcycles in all directions.

We found a perfect spot to watch.

The Clydesdales were led down the street by about 50 Florida
 State Police Motorcyclist.
Food venues were everywhere.

I counted five stages of live music....live music
came blasting out of all the bars.

People watching was very entertaining.

Larry drooled on all the Indian motorcycles  on display.

There were loads of  unusual bikes.

We ended the day by walking down the boardwalk on the beach. The tide was high so we didn't spot any vehicles driving on the beach.

In the evening we enjoyed watching a
Falcon 9 launch from Kathy's front yard. It contained 29 Star Link Satellites.
How exciting!

Everyday we walked a different path in Kathy's neighborhood.

Everyday Starry visited with her neighbor, Hershel,
an English Mastiff. He was massive.

Some days a local crane joined us.

Everyday we played music

Starry loves Larry's playing.

We enjoyed the peaceful Ormond Beach.

Kathy came home on Wednesday. I made us a home cooked dinner and played 5 Crowns....Larry beat us fair and square.

The sunset was superb.

We got a final goodnight hug.

Starry loves bringing Larry his socks.

One last head rub and....

we were heading to Fort Lauderdale to board the Sun Princess which is sailing
to Barcelona, Spain for a next adventure.
