Texas

Texas

Texarkana, Texas  February 22, 2022

While in Texarkana we stopped to visit our good friends,  Randy and Robbie. I fell in love with their dog, Maggie.

Outside the the Arkansas Municipal Auditorium....my man!

Famous day when  Elvis preformed with Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Johnny Cash in Texarkana at the Arkansas Municipal Auditorium. This only happened one other time in Memphis.

WHAT A DREAM BOAT!  If only he were real.....

Other performers at the Arkansas Municipal Auditorium....Mae West, Conway Twitty, Fats Domino, Louie Armstrong....what an out of the way place to see such great celebrities.

Get a load of the Auditorium in its hey day.

We were surprised to see that the actual inside of the auditorium was small and cozy.

So glad we stopped in here for a visit.

Waco, Texas   February 23, 2022

Sandhill Cranes were spotted in the fields going towards Waco.

We enjoyed stopping at the  " Fixer Upper" Complex of Chip and Joanna Gaines called Magnolia. It was really cold outside so we bundled up and really lucked out because there were no long lines of visitors due to the cold temperatures...we didn't have to snake along the long lines of ropes to get into any buildings.

Chip and Joanne's Waco Store was an interesting spot to explore.

Lots of little shops....clothing, furniture, décor enhancing items...not one thing interested me to purchase. Bakery had an abundance of baked goods stacked up behind the display case for the tremendous crowds that come each day. Lots of food trucks and picnic tables but most were closed because of the cold temperatures. Also a lot of family fun outside games were available to use....bacci ball, cornhole, etc.

Magnolia Complex had a church that was beautifully restored. Loved the curved benches.

Austin, Texas     February 23-26, 2022

Upon our arrival at the Hacienda RV Resort....changed to Sunshine RV Resort.... we set up camp for the evening. After spending one night in the Penthouse under the electric blanket, (the temperature dipped below freezing even during the day) we decided to rent one of the little houses to stay in for our remaining two nights. It was an nice spot with lots of good heat.

Enjoyed karaoke with Mike and Linda Simms the first night and a met some new friends from Ohio....
Nancee and Bill.

Mike put on a great little concert!
The next day we played music inside Mike and Linda's RV. What fun...and a great escape from the cold weather.

Our last evening we went out to eat Mexican food....yum and then went to a real live honkytonk called Poodies....where there are no bad days!

Guess who????  The owner....Poodie
This little honky tonk became known as Poodieville.

We actually went to Poodie's to see Mike and Linda's son play his steel guitar.  So from 7:00 till 10:00 Larry and I Texas-Two-Stepped to "The Merles" western/country music tunes.

We had such a great time!

The next morning we packed up and headed to Lake Havasu, Arizona to attend the Bluegrass on the Beach Festival at Lake Havasu State Park. It was a three day western scoot across Texas, New
Mexico and most of Arizona.
