Lowell, Arizona       February 27, 2022

We spent the afternoon walking the streets of  Lowell  and Bisbee, old wild west towns.

The old cars, trucks and buses that lined the street were charming.

Larry especially enjoyed the Indian Boy Toy.

On the way to Bisbee, we could look....

way down into a huge pit where mined copper was extracted. This pit was known as 

The Lavender Pit named after Harrison Lavender (1890-1952), Vice president  of the company that extracted the copper from the mine.

The Penthouse/Scooter parked on the Mainstreet going into Bisbee.

Bisbee had lots of ole time homes on the hillsides and ... 

multiple stairways to the top of the mountain.

Artists displayed their wares on the side of a building in Bisbee...so cool.

Larry enjoyed the display of old mining equipment.

Larry and I especially enjoyed the Lunatic Fringed Luthier's Shop.

The old zephyr displayed in the window drew us into this store of unusual instruments.

I fell in love with this 1940 banjolele...only $500...The Gibson.

Love his title...The Wizard.

Bisbee was a vibrant, touristy little town with lots of bars set up for the miners entertainment that seemed to have remained into these modern times. Live music filled the air outside of these joints. Larry and I would enjoy coming back here to spend time listening to the entertainment.

Quartzite, Arizona   February 28, 2022

We were thrilled to spot the first Saguaro Cactus just outside of Quartzite, Arizona.

Lake Havasu, Arizona February 28, 2022

We arrived at Lake Tahoe State Park a few days before the Bluegrass on the Beach Festival.

What a gorgeous campsite!

Dinner and...

our first of many fabulous Lake Havasu sunsets! REMARKABLE!

We enjoyed the State Park tremendously....great biking, close to town....

lots of water sports to view....kayaks, canoes, fishing, seaplanes, jet skis, speed boats, ultralights...

gorgeous scenery...and very clean...

outstanding sunrises and sunsets!

We arrived a few days early  for Bluegrass on the Beach so we decided to take a scooter ride on our first day.

We turned the scooter south, heading to Parker on the California side of Lake Havasu.

It was fun to cross over from Arizona to California over the Parker Dam.

Really enjoyed spotting these burros....ancestors from the mining days.

How cute!

These folks sure have a nice place on the water.

Loving this ride...warm and lots of unfamiliar territory.

Got back in time to enjoy this gorgeous sunset!

The colors changed so quickly as the sun set over California. 

What an evening!

Every night...except one when the wind was blowing...we played music with our new friends, Herb and Darlene from Idaho, Dennis and Vivian from Oregon, and Virginia from Pennsylvania,

and lots of other folks....

We had so much fun with these folks every night.

We met a friend of a Jay and Kim's from Pennsylvania.

Virginia with her autoharp...it sure looks a lot like mine; however the keys are in different spots.

Little Roy and Lizzy Show
What talent! Little Roy plays the banjo, guitar, autoharp. Lizzy plays the fiddle, bass, banjo, and guitar.

Everyone appears to be playing a different instrument with each song!

I was thrilled to meet Little Roy in person...got him off his bus. 

I hope I have half of Little Roy's energy when I'm his age...80. He was delightful to talk with.

We had a fantastic time at Lake Havasu.

We drove to Phoenix Airport to pick up Chad and Kathy.

Stopping for gas outside of Phoenix, we found this fantastic display of dinosaurs.

Ajo, Arizona         Tuesday, March 8, 2022

We stopped in Ajo to find a post office and found a lovely  village square.

Why, Arizona         Tuesday, March 8. 2022

Stopping in Why, Arizona to get gas, we found that the town at one time  had a road coming from Tucson that forked with a section going toward Lukeville, Arizona and the other section going to Ajo, Arizona; therefore, forming a Y. The state would not allow the tiny town to be named the letter "Y"

so they named the town "WHY". What a cool story!

This old truck was made into a small waterfall that the birds were using as a birdbath.

We stopped to have lunch at Granny's Kitchen in Why, Arizona on Tuesday.

Granny's Kitchen was decorated with lots of hens and roosters.

We all enjoyed yummy taco and burritos.

After passing through the Mexican Customs at Lukeville, we drove about 65 miles to Puerto Penasco.

Everyone was ready for a Mexican adventure!
